OUR STORY

The Zohra and Abdul Foundation is devoted to the cherished memory of our late mother, Zohra Bi, who passed away due to Covid-19 in November 2020. A woman of great stature and dignity, Zohra dedicated her whole life alongside her beloved husband Abdul Karim, to helping impoverished widows and their children in Pakistan and India.

This foundation is testament to Zohra’s love, kindness and generosity toward helping the poor. Her legacy shall live on through the continuous endeavours by her husband, Abdul, who is 90 years old, pursuing her dying wish – to set up a women’s welfare centre to empower all widows and single mothers with children in Pakistan and India. The aim of our foundation is to educate, empower and ensure promising futures for all widows and mothers in impoverished communities.

The plight of widows can often plunge whole families into destitution and despair, with consequences that can affect communities and last for many years. Zohra Bi and Abdul Karim believed that if they could fund the training of widows learning new skills, it would not only transform the lives of those individuals but also ensure a better future for their children.

SUPPORTING WIDOWS & THEIR FAMILIES

The Zohra and Abdul Foundation is a non-profit organisation that supports widows living in impoverished communities. By creating economic stability using creativity and the traditional craft of stitching, many of the widows we help will become self-sufficient and independent.

With this in mind, the initiative provides the training, financial assistance, materials and communal space to empower women, help their families and ensure they have access to training, healthcare and an opportunity to earn and have a brighter future.

WE PROVIDE FREE HEALTHCARE TO ALL OF OUR WIDOWS AND CHILDREN

We provide free health screening for all widows, as well as their children. Where widows are referred for private care, we shall cover treatment and follow-on care.

TRAINING COURSES

The duration of each course varies from 3-6 months depending on the level of skill being taught. At the end of this period, an examination is held to determine knowledge and understanding of the programme and the skills learnt.

TRAINING WIDOWS TO EARN FOR THEIR FAMILIES

If a widow completes the course she is provided with the gift of a sewing machine and the required materials to start earning for herself and her children.

EMPOWERING WOMEN & COMMUNITIES

When you donate to this program, you help women from under-privileged backgrounds learn skills that can help them sustain better living conditions. Just £50 a month could significantly aid these families, securing a far better future for their children and eliminating their financial crises.
